Towerinning Road Trip

On 10th of July The Westoz Wakeboarding crew took another one of its road trips 3 hrs south of Perth to Lake Towerinning in Moodiarrup. Towerinning is an idyllic little lake fed by a number of rivers and creeks in the region. It is one a very few riding locations in WA where you can tie your boat up on the sand right in front of your campsite.

The people at Lakeside camping are great to deal with and all quality services like toilets, kitchen facilities camp fires and shelter are all provided to make it a comfortable and enjoyable stay.

Big Scotty, Slim and Sal, The Robinson family-Matt, his wife along with their boys Ben and Christian, Marty and Ben Luckens, Nigel Leach and Michelle as well as Jackson Hays and I all made the journey down for the weekend.

Despite the cold weather, we had a keen little crew of riders turn up to ride behind Slim and the Luckens' loaded Super Air Nautique 210's. On Saturday we all enjoyed flat water to all ourselves. Sally, Nigel Leach, Jackson Hays and the two Bens and I made the most of the great conditions. Everyone had a great ride in what could only be described as freezing cold, but flat water. After each set it was a quick sprint to the hot showers to warm up and change into some dry, warm clothes. I must admit it was a struggle for us all to get into the water, but once we did, it wasn't as cold as we thought and was well worth it for the great uncrowded conditions. The highlight of the day would have to be seeing Benny Luckens back on the water and going huge again since his knee reconstruction last year.

Ben also was happy to provide a bit of coaching and advice for everyone to help advance our riding and work on our techniques. Unfortunately the afternoon's riding wasn't without drama. Ben Robinson's arvo set was cut short for young when he decided to introduce his face to his board trying back rolls. The end result was a trip to Collie hospital for 6 stitches under the eye. We told him not to worry because as the saying goes-chicks dig scars!

That night everyone enjoyed a great camp bbq style dinner including Michelle's delicious deserts. This was all washed down with a beer or four around the camp fire which Leachy kept well stoked, on ya' Nigel! The stories and jokes being volleyed around made sure there was never a dull moment. Especially when it came to Big Scotty's Black Russians and my Masterchef style Rib Eye Steak that I thought was harshly judged by Slim.

Ben Luckens and Nigel were the only ones keen to ride Sunday mid morning. Once they were done we all decided to get stuck into a hearty camp breakfast, pack it up and head on home.

I'd love to elaborate further on all the antics that went down, but as we all know what happens on WOW Road trips stays on WOW road trips. So make sure you are there for the next one!!!!!!
